Why neuter?

Neutered cats mark less, roam less and get into fewer territorial fights. Above all, neutering prevents unwanted kittens, who often end up in shelters.

Often required for outdoor cats

In Austria, cats that go outside must be neutered unless they are registered for breeding. In Germany many towns and municipalities have a similar rule.

The right time

Many cats are neutered at about five to six months, before their first heat. Discuss the exact timing with your vet.

After the operation

Most cats are fit again after a day or two. Keep her indoors at first and make sure she doesn't lick the wound open.

Adjust the food

After neutering, cats often need less energy and gain weight more easily. Weigh your cat regularly and adjust the amount.
