๐ฑ Cat First days ยท 2 min
Introducing two cats
Slowly, with patience and the right smell.

Why slowly?
Cats defend their territory. If they meet too quickly, insecurity can quickly turn into fighting, and that can last a long time. Going slowly is quicker in the end.

Start separately
The new cat first gets her own room with food, water, litter box and a hiding place. That way she can settle in without having to stand her ground right away. The door stays closed for now.

Swap scents
Swap blankets or cushions between the cats, or stroke one and then the other. Cats get to know each other through their noses first.

First sight
When both eat calmly, open the door a crack or use a gate. Short meetings while feeding or playing, then separate them again. Slowly make the meetings longer.

Patience and warning signs
Hissing and growling at the start are normal. Introducing cats can take days, sometimes weeks. If there are real fights or one cat stops eating, go back a step and ask your vet for advice.
