Getting the litter box right
How many, where and which litter.
How many boxes?
As a rule of thumb: one litter box more than there are cats in the household. So three for two cats.
The right spot
Put the box somewhere quiet, not next to food and water and not next to the noisy washing machine. The cat should reach it easily and feel safe there.
Cleanliness
Remove poo and clumps daily and change the litter completely now and then. Many cats avoid a dirty box and find another place.
When accidents happen
If your cat suddenly pees next to the box, it can be stress, the box itself or a bladder infection. Have it checked by the vet before you change anything.
