Cat-proofing your home
Tilted windows, poisonous plants and other traps.

Tilted windows are traps
Cats try to climb through the gap of a tilted window and slip into the narrow part. That can cause serious injuries. A tilted-window guard from a pet shop prevents this.

Balconies and open windows
Even agile cats fall, for example when they leap after a bird. A cat net on the balcony and insect screens with a sturdy frame make fresh air safe.

Poisonous plants
Lilies are very poisonous to cats even in small amounts, even the pollen. Poinsettia, dieffenbachia and ivy don't belong in a cat household either.

Small things and strings
Hair ties, threads, strings and tinsel are often swallowed and can injure the intestines. Tidy away small items and only play with strings while you're there.

Keep an eye on doors
Cats like to slip into the washing machine, dryer or cupboards. Take a quick look inside before you close or switch them on.
