Cat language: tail, ears, eyes

How your cat shows you how she feels.

tail up = helloears flat = fearblinking = trust

Tail up

If your cat comes towards you with her tail straight up, that's a friendly greeting. A little hook at the tip often means: I'm happy to see you.

Swishing and bushy

If the tail lashes back and forth, the cat is irritated. If it's puffed up like a bottle brush, she's scared or very excited.

The ears

Pointing forward means curious and relaxed. Turned sideways or flat means uncertainty or defence. Better keep your distance then.

The slow blink

If your cat looks at you and slowly closes her eyes, that's a sign of trust. Blink slowly back, many cats answer.

In shortTail up means hello, a slow blink means: I trust you.
