Purring, kneading, head bumps
What's behind the sweetest cat gestures.

Purring
Cats usually purr when they feel good. But some also purr when stressed or in pain, to calm themselves. So always look at the whole cat.

Kneading
Treading with the front paws comes from kittenhood, when kittens stimulated the milk flow while drinking. A cat who kneads on you feels safe.

Head bumps
When your cat rubs her head against you, she spreads scent from glands on her cheeks and forehead. That's her way of saying: you belong to me.

The belly isn't an invitation
When a cat shows you her belly, she trusts you. Still, many don't want to be stroked there. If she grabs you, it was too much.
In shortKneading and head bumps mean: you belong to me.
