Zoomies at 3 in the morning
Why your cat races through the home at night.
Completely normal
Sudden bursts of running, also called "zoomies", are normal in cats, especially young ones. Cats are particularly active at dusk and at night.
Burning off energy
Indoor cats often have more energy than they use during the day. Whatever is missing in the day, they make up for at night.
Hunt, eat, sleep
Play with your cat extensively in the evening, ideally a real hunting game with a feather wand. Then give the last meal. A full, tired cat sleeps better.
Don't reward it
If your cat stands by your bed meowing at night, ignore it as well as you can. A cat that gets food then will come back tomorrow.
